Warranty & Contract Service

How It Works
Most warranty and contract service is provided by independent service companies. These service companies are not the manufacturer, but they work with the manufacturer in order to ensure that your appliance is repaired as quickly as possible.

The manufacturer or contract company pays the independent service company to do repairs for them. If you have another appliance to be looked at or repaired at the same, you should expect to pay for that service.

The difference between a warranty and a contract is that the manufacturer provides the initial warranty at no charge. You may purchase a service contract for additional coverage.

Warranty Service
Your new appliances are covered by an initial manufacturer’s warranty as detailed in your owner’s manual. There is no extra charge for the warranty.

During the warranty period, the best way to request service is to simply follow the instructions in the owner’s manual. Only authorized service centers can perform warranty repairs, and the manufacturer will direct you to these service centers.

Always inform the service company of your warranty when you make your appointment. Not all service companies can honor the warranty, so you may incur charges if you do not inform them prior to the service call appointment.

It is your responsibility to provide proof of warranty and proof of purchase. Keep your owner’s manual and sales receipt on hand.

Please remember to read the details of your warranty. Warranties typically cover only manufacturing defects. Most do not cover installation problems, home plumbing or electric issues, cosmetic defects, or damage caused by misuse or abuse. When these things occur, you must pay for service.

Manufacturers will often have a choice of local companies for you to choose from for warranty service on your appliance. However, if they have no servicer in your area, or offer one that you would rather not use, discuss this with the manufacturer. They may make accommodations for you to hire another service company of your choice.

Contract Service
You may purchase a service contract for additional coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty. Many appliance stores and service companies sell service contracts, which may be issued by the manufacturer of the appliance, an alternate manufacturer, the retail store or service company who sold the contract, or an appliance insurance company.

The contract is between you and the contract company, not you and the service company.

Most contracts take over when your initial warranty ends.

Some contracts require that a deductable be paid at the time of service.

Please remember to read the details of your contract. Contracts typically cover only manufacturing defects. Most do not cover installation problems, home plumbing or electric issues, cosmetic defects, or damage caused by misuse or abuse. When these things occur, you must pay for service.

Most contracts require preauthorization from the contract company, which means you must call them first when you need a repair.

Always follow the instructions in your contract when you need service.

Always inform the service company of your contract when you make your appointment. Not all service companies can honor the contract, so you may incur charges if you do not inform the service company of the contract prior to the service call appointment.
